Pietra Corteforte was built in the beginning of the 1400s at a strategic point in the Fumane valley, and was an important point in the defense against attacks from the north. In the 1600s, the structure became property of an important family in Verona, who transformed it into noble country residence.

Since 1989, Corteforte has been the property of Carlo Maria Cerutti, an enthusiastic grape cultivator who has restructured the winery, while maintaining as much as possible of its original characteristics. Carlo Cerutti is pragmatic yet passionate, and soft spoken yet articulate. He loves his wines and loves to share them in the company of good friends.

The nearly 8 acres of vineyards that surround Corteforte have always been recognized as the best in the region since they are situated on a gentle slope that enjoys excellent exposure to the sun. Here the sunrays are absorbed from dawn to dusk, giving the wines the rare aromas of roses, violets and almonds.

Carlo has planted the traditional varietals used in the blend of Valpolicella Ripasso, Amarone and the great Reciotos. A single vineyard cru " Vigne di Osan", boasts of complexity, rich, ripe layers of seductive fruit and flavor
